Food and energy production have benefited greatly from widespread applications of conventional fertilizers. However, as demand for agriculture output accelerates, so too does our understanding of inefficiency in delivery of crop nutrition in production systems, and related environmental impacts of these practices. Inefficient fertilizer use is responsible for billions of dollars in annual economic agricultural losses ranging from loss in arable land, water consumption and eutrophication. Today's fertilization standards and reliance on dwindling natural resources casts uncertainty on the ability of agriculture to meet projected food and energy demand increases.

Sustainable agriculture requires the adoption of new technologies to dramatically improve the efficiency of nutrient delivery to crop tissues. Perhaps the most promising approach to bridge this gap is through use of agricultural nanotechnologies. Aqua-Yield is an industry leader in development and application of next-generation fertilizers incorporating robust, environmentally-conscious nanotechnologies to help farmers meet increasing demand and improve production efficiency.
